Email Scam On Royal Mail Deliveries.

Emails claiming to be from the Roayl Mail are fake.

HMRC has issued a warning due to an influx of scam emails related to Royal Mail deliveries.

The scam was flagged up on social media, with the individual contacting HMRC’s X account to say: “I’ve received an email saying Royal Mail tried to deliver a large letter from HMRC but couldn’t. Please click to rearrange. This is a scam?”

HMRC responded, confirming that the email was indeed a scam.

They have now issued a warning, reminding people that an email could be fraudulent if it is unexpected, if it requests personal details such as bank information, or if it instructs you to transfer money.

It could also be a scam if it promises a refund, tax rebate, or grant.

The tax authority also warns that messages which appear urgent and threatening may well be scams.

Royal Mail has also encouraged customers not to click on any links in suspicious emails and to be vigilant if you receive an email you are not sure about.
