Phishing scams are when fraudsters use emails texts or even phone calls to trick victims into visiting a website that downloads data from your device.
Once they have your personal information the scammers can then use it to take money out of your bank account or gain access to emails or other files that have sensitive information.
These fake websites are incredibly common and we are all bombarded with them every day. Fortunately, many are intercepted by anti-virus and firewall protections.
However, the fraudsters are getting more sophisticated and send very convincing emails, whatsapps and text messages trying to entice would-be victims to click on the links to fake websites.
