Prevention is better than cure.
Our lawyers hear heartbreaking stories every day of how people’s lives have been ruined by fraud.
This is why we are dedicating resources to scam prevention.
While we often feel that fraud victims have been let down by institutions like banks and social media companies the fault will always ultimately lie with the scammers themselves.
National Fraud Helpline believes there are three main pillars to defeat fraud: Technology, Education and Protection.
Using Technology
National Fraud Helpline has teamed up with leading AI firm TMC² with the aim of producing cutting edge anti-fraud technology.
In the first instance, we want to produce software that will allow us to produce real time warnings to anyone who signs up to our newsletter to prevent them from falling victim to fraud.
On top of this, we have ambitious goals to create anti-fraud technology that can be used throughout society to defeat the scammers.
This could be bespoke warnings when you are surfing social media or practical technology interventions when you are about to make purchases.
TMC² has a proven track record of creating machine learning solutions to modern day problems and we are delighted to be working alongside them.
Fraud is an international multi-billion pound business and we believe the only way to defeat it is by adopting the latest technological advances.
Awareness
We see educating the public on how to avoid becoming a victim of fraud as one of our key roles.
Every day we are producing stories and information to help prevent fraud.
We work with the national and regional media to get our message out to as many people as possible.
Our National Fraud News page is updated on a daily basis with the latest scams and fraud-related news.
We believe the more we can educate the public about fraud the better equipped they are to protect themselves.
Our newsletter also gives helpful advice and tips straight to your inbox on keeping yourself safe.
Campaigning
We believe that everyone who can help with fraud prevention needs to get involved.
That is why we have a campaigning wing that aims to target those who can help the most.
We believe that organisations including banks and social media companies plus Governmental bodies should all be doing more.
Our aim is to bring all stakeholders together to help create solutions.
The National Fraud Helpline Manifesto is asking for eight key changes to help create better fraud protections for members of the public and UK businesses.
We also aim to campaign at a Parliamentary level to help get the change that we believe is required to protect the public and help defeat the fraudsters.
We’re proud to be sponsoring a report by the All Party Parliamentary Group for Fair Banking which is examining issues around ‘APP fraud and banks’.
